The Arcella, known as a domed Amoeba, builds a transparent dome from whatever building materials it can find in the pond, usually sand. It then encloses itself in the dome for protection. These four Arcella are munching on what appears to be an egg sac, but because most of what they have been eating is gone, it's difficult to identify. Back To Image Index Page
