Wednesday
Since our last episode:
1. National Poetry Month ended and National Short Story Month began. I didn’t read a story a day, but I read a lot.
2. I was admitted to both the Sewanee Writers’ Conference and the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference. This will be my third time at Sewanee, and the first time I was admitted from the A list and not plucked from the B (Wait) List. This will be my eleventh time at Bread Loaf.
3. I visited the gravesite of the only person I know who died of combat-related injuries in Vietnam. I visited on what would have been his 67th birthday. He died in 1967, four months before he turned 21. I started a Markings piece about this, but I didn’t post it yet. I did, however, post “Take Care,” the story I wrote about that time in my life, and which I dedicated to him.
Lynn DeAngelis, shown above with her father, Ron DeAngelis, taking her first step down the aisle, married Matt April on June 7, 2013, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
As always, more later.
Thank you for reading, so much, so often.
Lynn is absolutely lovely!
