Monday
Wow! I hardly know what to do with all my new decorations! It’s not quite Holidailies time yet — this year the festivities run from December 5 to January 6, from the eve of Saint Nicholas Day to Epiphany — but I put the badge up anyway. I failed utterly at NaBloPoMo this year, getting up only ten pieces. (It was the health scare, among other distractions.) So for that I’m just drawing a line and staying with the group, which has become more of a NaBloPoYe (National Blog Posting Year) instead of just a month.
This piece is itself something of a placeholder, looking back and looking forward. Thanksgiving has been accomplished — turkey eaten, tree trimmed, Dragnet watched. I’m resigned to not having my Amazing Holiday Extravaganza Open House this year, and am compensating by making all the foods anyway and serving them piecemeal. Today I shared mulligatawny and naan and my festive pear tart with the cream cheese crust with a former student I had not seen in ten years, a young woman who did me the profound honor of looking me up on Facebook and making contact. Tomorrow I’m attending a morning Mass offered by my beloved Religion IV teacher and when I greet him afterward I hope to pin him down to a time when he’ll come to feast on my white lasagna or ham balls and red velvet cake.
So here’s to the first of December, and thirty more, and the start of Holidailies. See you tomorrow.

A year ago, I was in Wyoming,, making the transition from NaBlPoMo to Holidailies, and posting links to past years. Looks like I’m repeating myself again!
Two years ago, I felt an urgency “to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life.”
Three years ago, I noted that it was the feast of St. Eligius, a sixth century bishop who had the power to cast out demons and cure the sick.
Four years ago, I heard an owl call my name.

I found your blog through NaBloPoMo. I am going to attempt to blog every day, but I’m also going to try to leave a comment every day. I can already tell I’m going to enjoy it if I can keep it up because it will enable me to find kind-hearted blogs like yours. I read your November 24th post as well as this one and it was written quite beautifully.
Interestingly, I live in Lapeer, Michigan where we have Marguerite de Angeli Library and the house she lived during her early years is an historical monument.
Keep up the good work and God bless.
