I've started using the
Holidailies
logo, even though the project is not quite underway yet for this year.
Holidailes is an idea that was started by longtime journaller
Jette in 2000 when
she decided it would be fun to post something to her site every day in
December. Others joined her, and a ring was born that grew to 100
sites. I wanted to be included last year but I missed the cutoff date
for registering. This year I looked for the information early in
November. Jette's been busy but she still wants to host the portal, and
she made the new logo. I'll sign up when she opens registration
tomorrow or the next day.
For the next week or so I'll be working on staging my Big Fat Holiday
Extravaganza.
I
wrote about it the first year I kept this online journal. This will
be the Twelfth Almost Annual edition of the party (I skipped a few
years when other matters were just too pressing), and for the first
time we'll be having it not on the third Sunday of Advent (Gaudete
Sunday) but on the fourth, December 19, so that Lynn and her friends
will be home from college. Today I wrote the invitation and checked my
address list. Lots of new names got added. Back in September I attended
the Fortieth Reunion of the Combined Classes of 1964 and 1965 of Bishop
McDevitt High School (I'm a '65er), a project I'd worked on with others
for more than a year. I reconnected with a lot of people, and I'm
inviting anyone I had even a casual conversation with, lest it be five
years or more until I see them again. And I made sure I looked at the
place in my party notebook where I've written in big letters, "Remember
that it takes
four hours to
assemble, stamp, and address the invitations, even if you already have
them duplicated and the address labels printed."
